The Mango tree is a hardwood tree and is both prolific and renowned for being sacred in Asia. Hindus regard the mango fruit as the fruit of the Gods. The wood used in our collection of Mango furniture comes from non-endangered sources, is not subject to certification and is a very eco friendly wood to use in manufacturing furniture as it is a waste product.
A tree is only felled when it has come to the end of its productive fruiting life and a sapling is then replanted in its place. Not only does this apply to trees cultivated en masse for their fruit providing a useful cash crop for Asian farmers, but also at the private residences of the Indonesian peoples, where you find that they have one old tree and one young tree so they never go without mangoes.
The Mango wood we use is from fast free-growing trees, indigenous to Java. We kiln-dry all our wood and the furniture is machine made. Every piece of our Mango furniture is unique, has an attractive tiger eye grain pattern and there is a choice of six different finishes. No maintenance is needed. |
